Sara Turnquist
INTRODUCE YOURSELF. TELL US ABOUT YOUR FAMILY. Hey, all! I'm Sara Turnquist and my family consists of my wonderful husband, Greg, my rambunctious children Audrey (9), Andrew (7), who is on the autism spectrum, and Aiden (4), who we lovingly call "Destructo". We also have a blue heeler mix named "Blue" (not our choice, he is adopted, but the name suits him).
HOW DID YOU END UP IN CLARKSVILLE? I am a Clarksville native, born and raised, went to college in Memphis, then moved to Orlando, FL for a career with the Disney Company teaching about animals. I met my husband in Central Florida and we moved back to Middle Tennessee when we started our family. Now I write clean Historical Romance.
WHAT BROUGHT YOU TO MOMS TO MOMS? WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT M2M? I came to M2M (Moms to Moms) when it was MOPs. I was struggling with postpartum depression and this group was such a phenomenal support system, both coming around my prayerfully and with encouragement and understanding. And that is my favorite thing about M2M...that we all have similar struggles and can support each other with understanding.
TELL US ONE WEIRD FACT ABOUT YOU. I can unwrap a Starburst in my mouth in under 20 seconds
WHAT WAS THE LAST MOVIE YOU SAW AND ENJOYED? Christopher Robin
TELL US YOUR FUNNIEST OVER-THE-TOP MOM STORY. This is not really over-the-top...or about me, really. Once we were driving down the road and we hit the rumble strips, the bumpy things that vibrate when you veer slightly off the road... Well, we had to pass over them due to construction or something. And my then-4-year-old daughter said, "Mommy, I heard that...in my booty."
Lindsay Marlow
INTRODUCE YOURSELF. TELL US ABOUT YOUR FAMILY. Hi, I'm Lindsay! My husband Aaron has been in the Army for 16 years, and we've been married for 10 this February. We have 2 girls - Gracie Belle (almost 6) and Ellie Jo (2). Gracie started Kindergarten this year, so that has been a big change for our family.
HOW DID YOU END UP IN CLARKSVILLE? I am originally from McEwen/Dickson, but I moved around as a kid. My stepdad was in the Army as well. I moved to Clarksville to attend Austin Peay. I loved college and was very involved in the Baptist Collegiate Ministry. I finished my Psychology Degree, almost got my master's in School Counseling, interned at the BCM, met my husband, worked in nonprofit, married my husband, almost got my Master's in Community Counseling, took 2 seminary classes, and became a SAHM! You can't hear it, but I'm laughing at myself. I'm really putting that degree to good use! I spent a lot of time searching for God's will for my life, but He knew. Funny...isn't there a verse about that?
WHAT BROUGHT YOU TO MOMS TO MOMS? WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT M2M? About 5 or so years ago, my family started attending Hilldale. I saw something about MOPS in the church bulletin and started attending. However, I didn't really connect my first year. At the end of the year, they needed some help in Hospitality, so I volunteered. That's when I first felt connected, and I was hooked. This is my 6th year, and I have served as a Table Leader a couple of times, the Table Leader Coordinator, and then I made the big leap to Coordinator. Y'all, I could not do this without Sara! I do not feel equipped at all, but God has called me!
My favorite thing about MOMS TO MOMS is loving and encouraging other moms! We connect through our struggles and realize we're not the only ones! No mom is perfect, and we are often harder on ourselves than anyone else would be!
TELL US ONE WEIRD FACT ABOUT YOU. I am a bit of an adrenaline junky. I REALLY enjoy climbing and jumping off things. I grew up jumping off bluffs and into the creek, and I got the opportunity to visit my husband in the Middle Eastern country of Oman. We hiked some wadis (an Arabic word for a valley or dried out river bed), and it was probably the most amazing experience of my life. You climb and jump, climb and jump (into water). We swam under the water to get to this cave-like thing. It was beautiful, and we got to jump off some places inside of the cave. I would love to hang glide one day. I had sworn I would never jump out of an airplane though. My husband, however, plans to prove me wrong. We'll see...
WHAT WAS THE LAST MOVIE YOU SAW AND ENJOYED? Christopher Robin...it's not my typical movie choice, but it was funny and moving
TELL US YOUR FUNNIEST OVER-THE-TOP MOM STORY. I pinched the tip of my child's finger off. Okay, I didn't do it, but i felt VERY responsible. I was rushing out to the garage, and somehow, she reached back and got her finger caught in the hinge of the door. (Later I stood on the step, and I couldn't even make her reach that far.) I was TERRIFIED!!! She rode in my lap with the seatbelt across both of us, and the gate guard on post didn't even ask. He just waved us on. It was heartbreaking, but we all survived. She will have a cute, little, chubby finger for the rest of her life, but at least it wasn't the finger she may one day wear a wedding band on! :-)
