"The mind of a man plans his way, but the LORD directs his steps." (Proverbs 16:9)Anyone else feeling it?
I had all these plans and TO DO lists filled out for every day of the week. I was going to get SO MUCH done! I had appointments, I had my stuff, I needed to be productive. And beginning last week, things started to rain on my parade.
I had a vein procedure. No big deal, it was a minor thing. Quick recovery. Only it turned out to be a bit of a rougher recovery. Complications put me in the ER later in the week.
"You might have gallstones."
Okay, glad it's not complications from the vein procedure, but something new to track down...
Finally getting back to myself and ready to get to those TO DOs...
Wake up Sunday with the worst sore throat I have ever had. The doctor in the clinic actually put me on bedrest until Wednesday. No worries, not that I could actually do much with the little strength I had until Tuesday afternoon anyway.
And there goes about a week of productivity.
It would be easy to grumble. And maybe I am a little. But I'm actually smiling behind this computer screen. Because this verse is SO TRUE.
We make all kinds of plan, don't we? Great plans. Marvelous plans. For our day, our weeks, months, year...and on and on.
Now, I'm not saying plans are bad or not Biblical. Not at all. I think it is wise to maintain a schedule. But I am learning more and more, how important it is to hold it with an open hand to Him. Because, ultimately, it is in His hands.
And just how many times I'll need that lesson repeated remains to be seen :-)
